Please Reach It

Just when I start to think that my prayers hit the ceiling, God brings a breeze of fresh air and makes His presence known at a very personal level. I have been praying all week for God to encourage me. Perhaps it is my limited vision scope, but sometimes it does feel like nothing is happening albeit the countless persistent prayers I bring to God’s ears unceasingly. Truth be told, He is working whether I see it or not.
I’ve been asking for a physical trace of His hand by meeting a very specific request. I liken it to a little child who couldn’t reach a book from a shelf that’s just too high. Knowing her own limitation, this little girl’s most intuitive action is to ask a grown up for their help to do it for her. Her predicament is very simply solved when the capable parent takes the book and gives it to her directly. I thought to myself, this straightforward scenario shouldn’t have to entail a profound explanation of how life works. It’s just a book on a shelf. When my daughter asks to read a book, I give her the book. In fact I enjoy watching her gloss through the pages knowing she benefits from it.
“Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!” – Matthew 7:9-11
I’ve been asking God to kindly hand me that thing that I couldn’t reach for myself. If I could, I would, but I can’t. From the get go, I fully depend on Him to get me to my goals that are beyond my reach. He offers me encouragement at just the right time. I see it clearly; He is involved every step of the way. He placed the book right in my hands.
