Compelling Fire

God supplies a compelling fire inside each one of us. It is the reason why we move forward, determined to get past all obstacles along the way. It is the motivation to act even if you have to go against the grain and encounter a lot of opposition. Perhaps the fire inside of you is lit because of your love for your family. Maybe it is about attaining personal milestones in the aspects of your health, business or relationships. Or it could very well be steered by your heart to spread the Word of God’s saving grace to those who are lost. It is unique to you.
In Ezekiel 2:1-10, God described not only what He wanted Ezekiel to do, but he also presented the conditions in which he would serve. God told Him He was sending him to a rebellious people who acted like stubborn children. Yet he was to continue speaking whether they listened or not. God’s call didn’t depend on the people’s response. Ezekiel had to stand strong even when the people ignored him.
When God sparks up this light in your heart, you know for certain that your fervor won’t be extinguished easily since it is anchored in your very purpose in life. What you need to do does not change by static of external stimulus. When you consciously affix your eyes to God’s leading and act in obedience, the process is like smelting gold. But the treasures you are unraveling are perseverance, character and hope.
